Have you ever thought about waste you'd produce using ostomy supplies, feeding tubes, or catheters at home? Yeah, I hadn't either.
As a resident, there are limited options to lobby for changes to municipal policies; A presentation to Council is sometimes what is required to move forward a beneficial change. Thank you to the family who let me know of this issue; It's not something I'd considered before hearing from you. And thank you, St. Albert Council for moving forward so quickly. This change will make a difference for many families managing complex medical needs.
September 5, 2017: "Council Motion: Medical Exceptions to Garbage Collection – Council supported a motion that the relevant policies and procedures are amended for Council’s approval by the end of Q4 2017, to provide a medical exception to garbage collection maximums, with the requirements, limitations and any other considerations for this exemption."
