Last week highlights
Arts Development Advisory Committee Meeting: This was this committee’s inaugural meeting, after being created last year. Our workplan for the year was outlined - This group will be considering art-related policy, grant allocations, and how to move forward with the delayed Diversity public art project that was approved years ago.
Homeland Housing: Between my weekly CEO meeting, biweekly trip to Morinville to sign documents, and our regular board meeting, Homeland is a big part of my 2021 schedule. Last week, our regular board meeting saw us approve plans to move forward with renovating one of our unused properties as a new head office - This decision has been years in the making, and will give us much-needed space to house our growing organization.
Emergency Advisory Management Committee meeting: This was our first update since before Christmas. We are currently in a holding pattern of sorts, but Admin has provided options for decisions related to our currently-empty recreation facilities that will balance the desire to open quickly when opening is permitted and to reduce our operational costs by draining pools/ice rinks. We will likely see key decisions made over the next two weeks.
Agenda highlights
The public part of this meeting will likely be quick - Heavier agendas are expected in a couple of weeks.
Homeland Housing
Our meeting is starting with Committee of the Whole at 12:30 for a presentation from Homeland Housing. As the designated housing body for the region, the Homeland ED will be providing information to Council about mandate, St. Albert-specific services, and future opportunities.
Emergency Operations Centre Update (EOC) - Time-specific for 2:30pm
The EOC is our team managing St. Albert’s pandemic response.
This is a brief and incomplete overview of our meetings, with my personal comments sprinkled in - In no way are my opinions representative of the official direction of council or the City of St. Albert. Please let me know of any typos or errors. Members of the public can also register to speak if they have information to present to council. Full agenda packages can be found on the stalbert.ca website.
