Chamber of Commerce Forum - Governance and Administration

It was wonderful seeing so many people at the forum put on by the Chamber of Commerce tonight - it was a great chance to connect.

One of the candidates who spoke is someone I'd never met, and who I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to get to know; her passion for the city, and her strength of character shined through at this forum. Her comments about the relationship between governance and administration rung especially true for me:

"Dawne Fowler said the role of council is to set policy, the role of administration is to enact it..."

One of our city's greatest strengths is that we employ exceptional talent, that our residents are engaged and passionate about our community, and we have an incredible history to provide stability in making decisions for the future. I expect the City Manager to enact the policies set forth by council, to respond to the needs of residents, and I also expect councillors to respect the role of Administration and let them excel.
